TrackIR

11 posts in this topic

Today I was looking up some info on TrackIR.

I was wondering, anyone here has it. Does it work nice? How "cool" is it?

Which bits do you require? does TrackIR4 pro give the 6 point sensors?

Is it really useful in games with support?

Has anyone tried using the freeware alternative freetrack?

I have it. Its very cool. Wouldn't fly without it - well almost.

Don't know about 6 point sensors - perhaps 6DOF capability with 3 point sensors? I think Trackir 4 PRO comes with them indeed.

Some of my squad mates have built their Freetrack and they swear by it.

From my experience it is the serious flight simmers that get the most out of this product, for me it took a bit of getting used to and when i installed it i wouldnt say i was amazed at what it could do since it doesnt neccesarily give you any additional game features that werent originally present without trackir, but over time you really do appreciate its usefulness and i honesty wouldnt want to fly without it.

i have heard of people being able to set up there own trackir using a webcam but im not sure how well it worked, maybe a google search would turn up some results on that

Personally, my problem with freetrack would be that it doesn't support a whole lot of games.

it supports a good amount of games but not many first person shooters

Ok, so I got my Trackir and a track clip, and I must say this is definitely a fine piece of hardare if you're into flightsims, racing sims or armed assaults.

Put in disk, put in usb plug et voila. It has easy to understand controls, and you can accurately tune how the thing reacts to your head movement.

if your looking to kill some time before GB comes olut why not get into a flight sim, get the most out of your trackir and play with what is probably the most accurate simulations out
