Hey everyone,

I just did a forum search and nothing obvious popped up about an update from John and Company about the status of the game, their progress, etc. Sorry if this is a dupe but I couldn't find any other threads... unless some kind of update was buried inside another thread I guess.

So... back to the point... any updates? I have my fingers crossed ...

I haven't posting much over the last few months but I've been reading posts and watching what's going on.
I still believe in the project.

I agree with the last two posts.

I try to look for games that I would be interested in, but can only find a few.

I'd say playing those games is as entertaining as ever. It's after you've played and start looking for something more recent from the same mould that the depression sets in.

Not much to post about, but I'm still sitting and waiting to see what's happening. Ground branch hasn't been forgotten, after all Ground Branch is our "Last, best hope for ... something other than Call of Duty IX" smile.gif

Yeah, so CoD might be great for the teenage, twitchy-fingered frag fest in us but for me it's already old. Ground Branch is the flickering light of hope for our precious tactical simulation genre.

Unless of course you think the next installment from Ubisoft is going to bring us back to the fold: Ghost Recon: Advanced-Future-Predator-Global-Warrior Ultra Deluxe.

So my boss, (owner of SimHQ), puts out the SimHQ's 2010 op plan for us admins... one of those task is an updated, maybe even a preview of Ground Branch... now I purposely stayed away from these forums for development time... so now, do I tell him to mark off Ground Branch for any progress reports in 2010, or is there hope still? Wondering like my other tactical gaming brothers here.

Just a target year... late 2010, 2011, 2012, 2020?

I wish there could be a way to donate more money to this project then what we do through paypal, to help it along. How about a bake sell, lol or somthing.

FBI Director James Grace: You know, Westmoreland made all of us officers write our own obituaries during Tet, when we thought The Cong were gonna end it all right there. And, once we clued into the fact that life is finite, the thought of losing it didn't scare us anymore. The end comes no matter what, the only thing that matters is how do you wanna go out, on your feet or on your knees? I bring that lesson to this job. I act, knowing that someday this job will end, no matter what. You should do the same.

I would love to give you a better time frame, but I just can't. Every time I say something publicly something happens that sets us back. So for now, I'm just taking the silent approach, for better or for worse.

I certainly do plan to release something playable in 2010, even if it's just a tech demo. But I won't speculate on an actual final release date though. The best advise I can give is to not give GB a slot in any official planning as of right now, but you guys will be the FIRST to know what's going on.

It's really not worth it. We are beyond the donate to help get some assets made stage..... though that really helped at the time. In all honesty, we would need to have enough funding to support a few people with full time salaries big enough to support families. And that just isn't going to happen. thumbsup.gif

As always John, I think everyone here appreciates the honesty. I've told my wife that if we win the PowerBall someday soon I'll be calling you guys with a business proposition. smile.gif

@Magnum - Not sure if I will be there or not, but it's looking like I may be at GDC for the day job. We'll see how things go though.

Why dont you release a few maps as a MP only shooter for a very small price. From the looks of it, your training map is quite big, so if you released that with 1 or 2 other similar sized maps, a good basic gameplay structure behind it and 2-3 quality gametypes then you could make a good bit of money. Enough to further finance the production of GB.

Even if the gameplay isnt fully fleshed out yet I and alot of others would buy a good tactical shooter with a few large maps over the crap that is being released recently. You have a audience gagging for a semi realistic tactical shooter. Make use of it. Charge $4-5 for it and make it so it can easily be upgraded and added to. Basically sell pieces of a jigsaw, were the pieces aren't just new maps, they are animation, motion, particle, interface, etc improvements. Then at the end sell the campaign.

If it takes off they you can ramp up the production as each peice is made available ( for an additional $2-3 ). If 3 million people have played Combat Arms then Im sure you can make a success with this idea. Or maybe im just talking out of my ass! Anyway hope you consider this.
