The console version of GRAW actually provided a fun and oddly realistic co-op mode. You had full analogue body control (as well as multiple stances) and a magazine system. GRAW 2 was a bit more 'arcade', as it were -- in the end, still a fun co-op game. Overall, I enjoyed them a lot more than the PC game, though I enjoyed both. The PC game is much more fun with the third-person camera mod, if you ask me.
So true. GRAW coop on the 360 is so much better than it was on the PC. The single player was horrible, but coop was absolutely fantastic. I have to disagree about the third person mod for the PC version though, that was pretty bleh.

Honestly, the problems with the games aren't that they have sci-fi elements (because Ghost Recon always had prototypical guns like the OICW and so forth), but rather, it's that it suffers from basic design problems. For example: the 40mm grenades do not have arming ranges, and detonate upon impact, like rockets. This makes firing grenades an 'unfair' hazard when playing co-op, because you never know if you've cleared a corner or wall, because of where the projectiles spawn.
Yeah, but using the prototype for a gun that's actually being made is a bit more realistic than those invisibility cloaks from the teaser. As for the grenades, correct me if I'm wrong but I could have sworn the PC version of GRAW (or at least GRAW 2) had minimum ranges for the launchers. Unfortunately most games don't have that, though it is a nice addition (even better when you actually have to use sights to launch the grenade accurately as well).

Other than the silly design problems, I really could care less that it's military sci-fi. So long as it's fun to play with my friends, I'll give it a shot. I have no brand loyalty, when it comes to the hollow 'Clancy' name. A game is a game.
This pretty much sums it up. I'm to the point where I just ignore the title now and see how the game is. I was initially in the anti-console GRAW crowd until I gave the game a shot, and I was surprised how good it was. I didn't think HAWX was too bad, and Splinter Cell.....well, ok Double Agent sucked, but you get the idea.
