Custom Logo for AR-15

31 May 2008 - 07:05 PM

Hey guys, there is a local place that does duracoating of entire weapons for $350, including 2 magazines, and optics you have, and they will even throw in a custom logo on the mag well if you like without nickel and diming you. So I think I might do that to my RRA AR15 sometime. I have the pattern picked out, but I am completely clueless as to what to have as a logo. I was wondering if any of you have any unique ideas or ideas to how I should go about deciding. One friend suggested the Mustang logo since I'm a Mustang fan, mainly the running horse with the red white and blue stripes behind it. I think that would look slick, but I don't want to inject my car into everything I do, lol. But that idea is still in the background.

Another idea is the Stark Industries logo, since Iron Man is just so bad ass, lol

Or the Grammaton logo from Equilibrium:

And um, I don't know, that's all I could come up with right now, lol. What do you guys think?

Best non-hardsided rifle case EVER

07 May 2008 - 04:42 AM

Alright, I have to advertise. So many times you see people complaining about something. I would like to do the opposite and praise something instead. If you're looking for a soft rifle case (meaning not a hard case), this is the one I recommend. But please note, it is only 42" long, so make sure you don't have a rifle longer than this, it's mainly good for assault rifles or anything with a barrel length of around 16".

This is the bag I'm talking about:
Ultimate Molle Rifle Case $43
It comes in other colors too, this is the one I bought.

This is a $43 rifle bad that thinks its a $120 rifle case. It has generous padding all around to protect your rifle, even the ends so you can stand up the bag without worry that the butt or muzzle will slam on the ground. The inside is lined with a silky smooth material so you KNOW your rifle's finish is not being scratched, and has the standard velcro straps to keep your rifle in place. It comes with padded book-bag type straps that are removable if you don't want them, and another padded shoulder strap, also removable. The outside has three adjustable pockets. The middle one is large enough to easily hold 8 30-round AR15 magazines and can be adjusted to snugly hold fewer than that. They close with velcro and quick release straps. It has a space in the center for patches if you like. The side pouches are big enough to fit any accessories or anything else you like to bring along, also adjustable to fit the items snugly. And on the ends are plenty of MOLLE straps so you can attach any MOLLE compatible things you might have. And there is one big flat compartment that sits between the three outside pouches and the main rifle compartment.

The build quality is just incredible for the price. It's a mere $10 more than the "cheap" rifle bags and has 4 times the features and 5 times the quality. It's well worth it. I might take some photos of the inside compartment and the pouches and all of that to show this bag off more. I say if you're thinking about spending more than $100 on a quality soft rifle case, take a look at this one first.

Picture time:

Notice the MOLLE straps that seem to be missing from the stock photo, don't know why...

It is more than tall enough to fit my AR-15 with both my optics and my vertical grip without a problem. And it is also plenty long enough even for a fixed stock, notice all the room in front of my muzzle. Also notice all the padding all around the edges and the silky smooth interior I talked about:

I have 7 30-round AR-15 magazines, it can easily fit another one. But the elastic strap running across the middle of the pouch lets you adjust it so if you have fewer mags, they can still be held snugly with minimal movement:

And here are the bookbag type shoulder straps. You can remove them, or flip them around if you want depending on which end you want to be "up" on your case. They are very comfortable and the middle strap that pulls them together helps keep the weight square on your shoulders and not pulling outwards. This bag has so much space, you might fill it up with so much stuff that this feature will be of help!

Again, not what I expected from a $43 case. I've seen many cases going for $100 to $150 that has the same features as this one. It is definitely a smart buy if you ask me. cheaperthandirt.com has many gems like this though, give them a look.

Hey, for those of you wondering when they will have the trailer out for The Incredible Hulk, here it is:

Woot, stainless Ruger 10/22

15 April 2008 - 05:36 AM

Hey, I got a new addition to the family, a stainless Ruger 10/22 I bought from Wal-Mart for $257 after all the taxes and everything. It's pretty nice, can't want to go out and buy a $10 brick of ammo to plink away.

Timing sucked though, the day I spent my money on this, my computer decided to die... Would have saved that money to purchase the computer parts over the 10/22 to be honest... Now looks like I'm spending my money on both...

$2561.72

06 March 2008 - 06:06 PM

Alright, it's official, I have placed the order for the DSA, and it's costing me a lot of money but not as much as it should have cost.

I ordered the SA58CP Para Carbine rifle in .308 and regular length gas system
Duracoat Camo Pattern finish in Urban MirageFlage
Extended scope mount
rail interface handguard
Ergo grip
speed trigger
phantom Flashhider
Extended selector switch
cheekpiece for folding stock
2 extra magazines (3 total, one with the camo pattern)

That would have easily cost over $3000 if I were to order it straight from DSA and got the normal MSRP price, but the gunshop I go to hooked me up since I am a regular there. They let me place the order there and get their dealer cost plus I don't have to pay tax since DSA is not in Florida, then once they receive it, I just pay $35 for a transfer fee and that's it, so they're not even charging any profit. If they treated me like any regular customer, he said the lowest price he could have set with a dealer cost of $2561 (includes shipping BTW) was $2700, so I would have paid $2700 plus tax which would have been $2862. So by letting me buy it directly from DSA with their dealer discount, I saved like $300. These guys hooked me up big time. I guess that's what happens when you have a gunshop where the people don't work off commission...

It'll basically look like the bottom one with the top camo pattern:

Just imagine it with the Ergo grip and the phantom flashhider.
