Sky Gods, BlackFoot Studios first retail release, will provide gamers with a rare perspective into the high velocity world of SOF HALO insertion jumps. HALO, or High Altitude Low Opening insertions, is a technique used by military special forces. In a typical HALO exercise, the parachutist will jump from the aircraft, free-fall for a period of time at terminal velocity, and open his parachute at a low altitude. The combination of high speed downwards and minimal metal and forward air-speed serves to defeat radar, enabling a stealthy insertion.
Few games have ever focused as in depth on the actual free fall and landing experience as Sky Gods will. Players will be in full control of their character during HALO freefall as well as while under canopy and will be required to properly steer to a landing zone and land without injury or fatality.
Once on the ground, players will be tasked with various missions based on real life SOF experiences, observing and engaging targets through various terrain environments. Progressing through the game means successfully completing missions of ever expanding scope and complexity, and with Blackfoot’s approach to realism, just getting down to the landing zone on target and alive may prove challenging.
A full training system will also be included to familiarize you with the parachuting and ground movement, as well as the weapon and firing mechanics. Sky Gods is being built using the same technology, design principals and mechanics as Ground Branch, and will incorporate BlackFoot Studios' NORG design philosophy.
Set to release in the second quarter of 2009, Sky Gods will be available via digital distribution, and contain a full Co-op experience including;
